Colorado Wedding Planner | Private Home Wedding | Elizabeth & Steve

"My fiancé and I wanted an outdoor, “at-home” wedding in the mountains with all of our family and friends. We live on the east coast and got engaged during the pandemic, so we knew it wouldn’t be a simple endeavor. I spoke to four wedding planners, and knew instantly that DME was the only way to go. Why? Ebs listened to every single word that I said, gave me all the info and advice I didn’t know I was missing, and made our priorities HER priorities, from Day 1 through the week after, showing grace and good humor at every turn. There were dozens of big and small things that could have gone wrong, but thanks to Ebs and Natalie, I can truly say that I went into my wedding day with zero stress and enjoyed the wedding of my dreams. Do not hesitate to hire DME! Whether you’re planning a complicated affair like ours or an “easy” one, you will have total peace-of-mind knowing your vision is in good hands." ~Elizabeth (Bride)

Elizabeth & Steve were married at Elizabeth's family home in Alma, Colorado. This was pretty near and dear to me because at the time I booked this, I was living in Alma! Just recently my family made the move to Breckenridge. It's funny, in the thirteen years of living in Alma and planning weddings since 2010, I had never once worked a wedding in Alma. It took me moving away to finally get to plan a wedding there! I have to say it was worth the wait!

I worked with the bride Elizabeth to plan a very special ceremony and reception at her family's property situated just between Alma and Fairplay. Her family actually built the house on this property. It is stunning. And the views! With planning a wedding at a residence, we have to rent a tent. We loooove tent weddings. You get to create a wedding venue anywhere! I have to say though there are challenges that come from building a venue from the ground up but you will see from the photos, totally worth it. We worked with Colorado Tents and Events for everything from the tent itself down to each dish. The floral design was thanks to Sarah at Ladybird Poppy. She really took the bride's vision of keeping everything as simple as possible and focusing on the scenery around the property. Sarah also works on a local farm and when possible, sources flowers from that farm for her weddings. This was totally up Elizabeth and Steves' wedding planning alley. When it came to food, I knew we had to bring in a top notch wedding caterer because one of my first conversations with Elizabeth was that food and drinks were one of her top priorities. With all full service wedding plans, I love to go over that list of priorities before we even hire one wedding vendor. That way we know exactly how to allocate the budget that makes the most sense. So we enlisted the help of Biscuits and Berries. Loooove not only their food but their crew is outstanding. They are ready for anything. Whether we want a satellite bar in the middle of a field, a sit down dinner with many courses or if we have to change things on the fly because of weather. They are amazing. And when you mention food, you can't forget about dessert! One of my favorite bakers also happens to live in Alma! It was her first Alma wedding as well! Katy Pierson Cake. Her cakes are just as fun to look at as they are delicious. Another outstanding vendor we had to include was A Great Time DJ. They just really know how to read a room and keep the party going all night long. Even if there is a freak hail storm in the middle of the evening! (better that than in the middle of the ceremony I suppose) So once we had all of these amazing wedding vendors on board, it was time to have a wedding!

The day was gorgeous! The ladies at Weemala started the day off with hair and makeup. Even though Elizabeth and Steve did not have a formal bridal party, they still wanted their extra special ladies to feel a little bit of pampering and have their hair and makeup done. After the "first look" there were family photos taken by Autumn Cutaia Photography and the way to get there was on the family Kubota. The Kubota is a staple in this family so it only made sense it was used for local photography transportation that day. It was even used to walk Elizabeth and her dad to the aisle! Talk about a perfect entrance for a mountain wedding! After the wedding ceremony guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres right where they stood while taking in the beautiful mountain backdrop. Exactly what Elizabeth and Steve wanted to share on their big day. From there the day ran so smoothly. While inviting some wedding tradition and forgoing others, Elizabeth and Steve made this day theirs.

A huge thank you to you Elizabeth and Steve for trusting us and letting us be a part of your unique Colorado Wedding!
